NON-PROFIT OF THE WEEK

CABO
updated: Aug 27, 2011, 10:36 AM

The Connecticut Alliance for Business Opportunities is based in New Haven and founded in 2007, CABO has achieved impressive growth in the past year, rapidly growing membership across the state in Hartford, Fairfield, and New Haven, with imminent plans to hold regular networking meetings in New London. With 150+ members and counting, they've developed significant corporate relationships with business members of all sizes to give an economic edge to those who support equality and justice for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in the state.

CABO's major corporate members include Aetna, Foxwoods, Murtha Cullina, Nutmeg State Federal Credit Union, Comcast Business Class, Bearingstar Insurance, Clear Channel Radio, The Rainbow Times, GHP Print, United Illuminating, The Hartford, United Technologies, and the Connecticut Sun WNBA team. Many are key corporate partners of CABO as well.

Recently CABO won the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce's annual "Chamber of the Year" award, which recognizes one outstanding lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender chamber or business organization that continually stands out for their exceptional efforts and leadership within their community.

I recently had some correspondence with Jenn Tracz Grace, Executive Director and she was so pleasant and polite to speak with. She was so gracious to be our NPO of the week. Referred by Buckheit of Nonprofit MediaWorks who couldn't say enough great things about CABO.
